Need to do a clean reset of your Blackberry to its factory defaults? If you are not too keen on the idea of reloading the OS you can use the on-board reset capability (they call it “wipe” the handheld device). This option is hidden pretty deep in heart of the Blackberrys multi-layered system so that people wont be able to accidentally use it.
This Blackberry “Wipe-Handheld” command list has been tested on the 8800 however it should be the same or similar for other models
On your blackberry navigate to the following sections:
- Options menu
- Security Options
- General Settings
- Menu
- Wipe handheld
Here you will need to enter the default password (”Blackberry” or your business-assigned security password)
And your Blackbery will now wipe all user data and reset itself to the factory defaults!

On the Blackberry Curve 8330 the following steps work with the exception of 4 and 5 scroll to the bottom to Secure GC enable and press that one and the screen will pop up and will give you information to enter and it should work…. Purchased the new EVO HTC and I LOVE IT!!!!
